Title: Fabbing a charcoal grate for older 26 for a non-Fabber
Post by: LightningBoldtz on July 02, 2015, 08:08:21 AM
We'll see how this works long term but after I got the Red Aristocrat and decided to keep it the issue of not having a charcoal grate became a problem.

after much consult I decided to go with
3/4' 9 gauge expanded steel - grainger for $16
a used 22 charcoal grate
1 in carriage bolts, large washers and nuts

One concern that I have is it warping in the middle but we'll have to see.

First of all I'm jealous of your Aristocrat. Secondly, the grate looks good to me - Keep us posted on the warping but I don't see it being a potential problem for a long time.

In other news, I really like your signature, "You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want." Those are truly words to live by - Happy 4th and happy grilling!!
