Wow. Great pickup.
Who would have thought CDA was a rainbow Weber hotspot? You've been on a roll lately!
VERY nice red 18! Looks in great condition. Love the 18 collection you have got going.
Was that the one on ebay? 8)
Heck of a find Ida, congrats man!
oh man thats a nice 18. congrats!
Wow! Based on your pics, that looks nearly new. Great find, dude!
The 18s are really starting to grow on me. You have a fine collection. :)
This was a local buy @redkettlerich . An estate sale where you could buy at the preview , he listed the kettle under appliances for $30.00 , he claimed he bought it Lowe's for $100.00 , I didn't have the heart to tell him that Lowe's probably wasn't around when that grill was made , lol
@maceggs - it has very little wear and tear. Wheels are shot but that's it , I can't wait to clean it up.
Thanks for all the kind words everyone,
Merry Christmas
That's a sweet find! Looks like a 1978. The 18's do so much more than they are given credit for. Every civilian Weber owner should have at least one in the arsenal. Every Grillfella should have at least three to four... ;D
Idahawk It looks to me like the lid handle is slightly off center? Meaning closer to the lid vent. If so I also have one (mid 70s 18 red BBQK) that has the same thing going on. Pretty neat!
Man, somebody babied that one......really nice, no chips & even the pan looks in good shape !!!
I saw that under the Spokane listing. Glad you got it. Looks sweet.
Very nice!

@Craig , interesting any guesses as to why they are like that ?

Best guess: My 22.5 Chocolate which has the same "78 vent" as your red has a slightly off center lid handle. It's just a touch further back from the lid vent. Maybe our '78s and my mid 70s red 18 were all Friday kettles? ;D
I wonder if after putting in the 4 vent holes , it threw off the balance , so they compensated by moving the handle slightly ?

Could very well be the case. I would love to go back and see how they were made back in the day vs today.
