Title: Target Clearance
Post by: lemisfits on July 26, 2014, 07:41:39 AM
When do they start putting stuff on clearance so I can go raid their inventory?

Little bit longer.....when they start putting out stuff for back to school.....you'll see them begin to disassemble the shelving & area....then get ready to pounce !!!!

I hid a OTG behind a stack of toilet paper so when Sept. comes around I can buy it for $20. :P

Stuff goes quick. Fortunately I go to target 2-3 times a week. Pretty much do my food shopping there and Costco.

Nah. it was just a joke. I have heard of OTS's going for 40. 18.5" size I think.

I paid $16 each for a pair of Jumbo Joes (retail is $59.99) last year during Target's end of year clearance.  They mark down everything on a weekly basis until its all gone.......grills, accesories, tools, everything.  Its a great time to stock up on replacement grill grates and stuff you normaly wouldn't buy.  The only exception to that seems to be the 14.5" Smokey Joes.  Maybe I couldn't find one because they sold out so quickly, but I think they move those to the back room until the sales are over.  I've never seen one marked down on a store shelf.

Target stores in my area sells the SJs year round, which is why they don't discount them during the normal grill clearance season. I noticed that Target had really beefed up their Stok grills/accessories this year. It looks like have more Stok product than Weber... anyone else notice that?

I don't think I've been in a Target since I bought those Jumbo Joes  ;D

I wonder if they carry Stok replacement grates?  They are ok quality cast iron and fit in the 22.5" kettles nicely.  I wouldn't mind picking one up.  I'll have to swing by on my way home one of these days and see what I can plan on searching out at the end of the season

Every Target is slightly different.. Last year I missed out on 2 18" grates for cheap by mere seconds..
Timing is everything.. I haven't seen any Target have too much excess inventory on Weber stuff..
Good Luck/
We should start a Clearance thread just for Target.. 8)

That would be remarkable, but I didn't wait. My store has two in stock for $30 and I picked one up today They also have 1 OTS marked down for $50 there.

A pack of small drip pans from Charbroil for like $2 is a good deal. Also picked up two Weber 18.5" hinged cooking grates for about $10 each, and a Charbroil SS grate tray thing for less than $10. Looks sort of like a poor man's Grill Grates.

Walked over to the Target across the street. A young lady was making down items as I watched. The only Weber item she marked down was 18.5" hinged grates from 17.99 to 12.58

Give it time. Some stores start earlier than others, but it will come. I didn't even start looking last year until after Labor Day. Even then, I held out a few more weeks until things got into the 70%+ off range. Then I just cleared out pretty much everything I could find. Two jumbo Joes, a nice rib rack, a grill cover, and a handful of grates.  I spent less than $50 for all of it combined. I didn't "need" any of it, so I was willing to hold out until the deals were so good I couldn't pass them up

Went to Target #2 tonight, and after telling myself for 10 mins I didn't anything, bought the last 18.5 basic cover and one of the last 2 JJs  (I call them Ugly Joes. Is there a homlier Weber coal grill?) Both were 50% off-$4 and $30.

As always, the SJS remained at full price- $38.   ::)

I am now a new member due to the Target clearance.  I picked up the last 22.5 silver they had which was the display, and since it didn't have a main rack, guy pulls a hinged 22.5 grate off shelf and puts inside.  50% off plus a free hinged grate plus add'l 10% off for the open item.  Walked out for under 50 bucks including tax and a cover. Went to target over lunch break, grabbed a Jumbo Joe for $42.  There were only two left, so rather than wait for a better price I pulled the trigger.  In any case, I will be keeping an eye out for further reductions down the road.  Can't have too many webers, right.  ;)

I hit 2 Targ's at lunch today in ATL.  One was marking things down while I was there.  JJ's for $42.  I bought a bunch of smalls: tool holders, chip smoking box, brushes, aprons, spatulas - all cheap!  18.5 and 22 hinged grates for $8 & $9, respectively.  Probably should've bought a few of those.

Last year one Target had 22.5" black OTS on clearance for $29 but sold out. Another Target across town had them in stock but at MSRP $99. The clerk at the store who had then on clearanced told me to buy it from the other store and bring in the receipt so she could give me a price adjustment.  Also scored a JJ for $17.

After my post on Wednesday I stopped by Target again, still nothing on clearance.  They had about 3 golds, 4 silvers, 2 JJs, a bunch of grates and other accessories, and 2 Smokey Joes.  I stopped by at lunch on Friday and I guess either Thursday or Friday everything went on clearance because almost everything was gone.  Of the grills themselves all that was left where the 2 Smokey Joes (still not on clearance) and the floor model of the 22.5 Silver.  Hooked my friend up with that since he's been looking for a deal on a silver.  Of the accessories all that was left was a couple grill covers, some aprons 2 18 grill grates, and 2 22 grill grates.  I grabbed one each of the grill grates for myself.  They were the ones with the hinged ends, and the 18s were 9, and the 22 was 12 or 13.

Stuff went in the blink of an eye.  The 22 silver I hooked my friend up with was 50% off.

My wife picked a jumbo joe for me this morning here in Austin for $29.  :)

This will be my first charcoal grill which I'm a little ashamed of but we always had gas grills growing up and I finally wanted to get primal and cook with live fire. I really want a performer and will get one eventually but this seemed like a good way to get started and at a great price.

I've been lurking on this site for a little while and like it. Lots of good info without egos.  :)

Still going here in Louisville.

Swung by the Target closest to my house and Cha Ching !!!!!!!!!!!!!!     Saw a display model Jumbo Joe that was tagged @ $25.xx    Was about to buy it when I saw two new ones in the box.   Checked the clearance sticker on those and they said $17.98!!!!.   Grabbed them in a heartbeat.   Also picked up two 18.5 hinged grates for $5.38 each.

While scoring, a woman came up and was looking at the Jumbo as well some SJS's that were marked down to $25.   I advised that she get the Jumbo Joe, and that the price should be even less than what was on the sticker, given that the two I had were $17.98.     She ended up putting it in her cart and she also happily bought a hinged grate that I told her about.   We ended up going up to the front to check out together.   My transaction went through with no problem, then I stood and waited for her's to ring up.   Cashier scanned the clearance tag and it still came up  $25.xx.    I told the cashier that this couldn't be right, as mine were new in box for less, while her's was an open box display model.  I asked her if she could just scan the UPC on my box instead.   Well, of course, she was all confused and called a supervisor over.   Up walks some 17 year old kid and I explain the situation.    He looks at her grill, compares it to the pics on my box and gives the OK to scan my barcode.    I then pointed out that the price I paid was for new in box, and that her's was a display/open box model, and then asked whether or not she should get an additional discount.   The kid shrugs and says "Yeah, that makes sense" and took an additional 10% off.   The woman buying the Jumbo was happy and thanked me for helping.

End result for me was 2 Jumbo Joe's with additional hinged grates for $23.35 each +tax

No 22s by me, only 18s and they are still $13.

Went to another Target that showed the JJ being in stock and found it sitting right there on the shelf.  Looked at the tag and it said $42.   Checked with the self scanner and it came back up with $42 also.   I took a shot and carried the JJ up to the customer service desk and told them how I had just bought 2 at another location for a lower price.   They matched the price on the JJ as well as the hinged grate that I had brought as well.

Off to find a couple more tomorrow just to keep family members happy.

BTW, no 22 grates to be found so far, but there are quite a few more hinged 18's.     Would it be cost effective to buy and ship to anyone in need ?

I have three Targets within 15 miles of me, they are rarely in sequence with the clearance items, until things go down to 70% off or more I usually check at least two of them before I get something on clearance because driving a couple miles could save another $20 or $30 bucks.  Sometimes they will be sold out at one and never mark down below 30% at another, never thought about going to the customer service desk, may have to try that next year.  Anyway all three lowered the prices to 70% off yesterday or today and moved the stuff they carry year round to another part of the store to make room for Halloween.  I went in two of them earlier in the week and they still had some items I didn't need I wanted to see if they marked down more.  Then went in tonight and almost everything is gone, might find a grill brush but not much else.

Stopped in my other local store and they had a few things left. They had two Jumbo Joe's marked down to $18, and a stack of 18" hinged grates for $5. I picked up one of each to replace the Jumbo Joe I gave my Mother in-law last spring. I left the other one for someone else to find. They also had a floor model 18" OTS, but it didn't have a price, and I don't really have a need for it. So I left that as well.

Grabbed a couple of Jumbo Joes myself for $18 each and an 18" grate for $5.  I can always use an extra grate but I'm hoping to trade the JJs for something interesting somewhere down the line.

Got a jumbo joe today for 17.98 and grate for 5 something. I am happy. Not even sure I will use it. Really want an 18 in OTS but they are not on clearance. Hoping that they do eventually.

Got the 22.5" grate with the charcoal hatches for $4.99 at our Target.

They had two, and that was the only Weber stuff they still had on hand!
