Title: What’s your favorite pizza?

While I live in Indy, I grew up in Chicago, so it has to be deep dish. Lou Malnatis, specifically. What’s yours?

Post by: powermatt99 on October 11, 2021, 04:11:44 PM: I like them all. I really like cooking a simple Neapolitan style pie, though. A few high quality ingredients and an enamel splitting 900° fire in the kettle is all there is. Not much to hide behind.

Pre-pandemic I was usually in Chicago a half-dozen times per year. My favorite Chicago style is Pequods. I've had them all and Pequods was the standout. The advent of shows like Diners Drive-ins and Dives has made the place a little busier than I remember.

I was not sure how I would feel about the burnt cheese around the edges. But it is yummy. I need to try Burt's, which was started by the same guy who started Pequod's but I have not been able to yet.

I've made myself a Detroit style and loved it but haven't been to Detroit to try the real thing. There is a place in Greenwood called south of Chicago that makes a great deep dish. They also have great Italian beef sandwiches and large crinkle cut fries.

Yeah, we have a takeout Lou Malnati’s on the west side. I’ve been to the eat in one in broad ripple. I have not been to Swensons.
