I am relatively new to kettles but I've never come across this style handle before - anyone else familiar with this model/style?

That looks like an add-on by the end user.
Heard of them referred to as the "Ranch Kettle Handle".

Here's a similar handle....

Also it looks like that lid took the evil tumble as so many do and the top handle was mashed and lid dented.
Looks like a Ranch handle up there too.

Seller was a bit dishonest by cropping the top handle area in the photo, IMO.

I think some of our European and Aussie members could shed some light on this.  :)
Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?
A: When you are not allowed to question it.

It looks a bit like a euro compact kettle, but I agree that something isn't right there.

Hi!

As one of the Europeans here I can confirm that this is a 22" Compact.
Beside my 22" redhead OTS, I also have a 18" Compact. And I like it a lot.

Well done.
I thought it was a US (market) kettle.

604, what's your 20 ?

The mini ranch ;D
Haha
The compact Chinese piece of shit
Only two good things about it
1) the handle can be bolted to something useful
2) the lid vent is bolted so I can remove , polish and add to my rapper necklace
GET ON THAT SHIT
WONT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER

hey Golly,

I also like the original kettle much more compared to the compact, but why do you call it a piece of shit?
Yes, because of the shape of the bowl there are some heat-issues, and yes, it does not have the one-touch system. But beside that?
My 18" compact is from 2008 and hasn't been treated nor cleaned very well since then; and there is for example still no sign of rust on lid or bowl.....

Funny chit right there !

I did not know of these Chicom kettles.

I like the compact for a weeknight quick direct grill.  The vent on the bottom seals much better than the one-touch, snuffing it out far quicker.
Not really the right shape for efficient indirect/direct 2-zone cooking though, so I use the regular OTG for that.

Prof.

In Italy I've never seen that kind of handles and the Weber logo next to the word is not present in any of the models I've owned.
Seems to be a compact 22
BBQ are never enough

My (Australian market) compact has those handles, but the lid also has a heat shield underneath the handle.
