26er not level

I found a previous thread where someone else got a 26er and the front leg was 2" too long and cut it down. Is this a common problem? Picked up a craigslist 26er and it has the same issue. I'm cleaning it up today and checked the sockets and legs and it all seemed assembled correctly. It doesn't seem likely that it would happen but I'm now convinced of it with the previous thread. Whats your advice? Hack it off or obtain a new leg? I'm concerned the back legs may be too short rather than the front leg too long. Really liking the height of the big kettle.

park downhill until level.

install larger rear wheels

Are your wheels 8" or 6"? They should be 8"

Jimmy's almost right. It is the downhill leg. Just like mountain goats; their uphill legs are shorter than the downhill legs. Counter clockwise facing of course. Except Australia, they are clockwise.

It's an AU. New style 26er wheels with hubcaps. 8"

Wrong leg?  The front leg for a 26er is 22 1/8" long.

G, what is the proper length of the rear leg of a 26er ?
For an easy modified dimension, perhaps from base of leg socket (against bowl) straight to the center of axle ?

I'm thinking that maybe this kettle has rear legs from a standard kit.

HalfGrilled

Leg measure exactly 22"

G

Little harder to measure because of the angle on the bottom but....
from top of tube measuring down to top of hole where triangle is inserted is 17 5/8"
from top of tube measuring down to bottom on leg (bottom of angles part) is 18 5/8"

These are for a newer style 26er.  The older models have different leg lengths.

QuoteLeg measure exactly 22"

mine had the end cap on which probably accounts for the extra 1/8"

OK, so +3/16" gets you to center of axle...17-13/16" (approx)
Plus half of a wheel diameter, 4" gets you to 21-13/16 "
This all seems close enough to be correct allowing for different people measuring, end caps and depth of leg seating.

If the OP is off a full 2" he has got to have the wrong rear legs, if I am tracking this correctly.

Leg measurement are almost exactly what you posted. Backs and front. The socket may be attached to far under the bowl. At this point I'm just guessing. 1 and a 1/16 from ash bucket attachment to socket.
