I expect AJ will be chiming in as soon as he reads the title. ;)

Anyways in light of the the green smokey joe discussion I thought it would be a good idea to just start a thread to identify all of the different greens that were made by Weber. http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/trading-post/green-sj-in-oc/msg92792/?boardseen#new

For starters here's a Ulime Smokey Joe lid next to a C&B one. One picture was taken in the light and another in the shade. The C&B looks quite a bit like the old what Weber referred to as Sage, but since the 70's sage is so different from what 80's sage looks like and almost looks like it has a yellow hue closer to army green I call it Olive. I'm not sure how close the Ulime is to the Old lime. Maybe someone could do some comparisons between those two.

In person side by side they look very different.

Here are the best pictures I have of a 70's Sage until we actually find one, again I call it Olive, but it could just be the lighting.

I'm surprised that Weber never used the term "Avocado" to describe any of the greens.
That ad looks to be right out of the "Avocado Craze" era.

Jeff

DirectDrive...they did use the term "avocado".  The old 70's style ones were called "avocado" indeed.  They also made a newer one called "avocado" that appears more as "sage" as you can see below in my photos.

The photos below show from left to right, 70's avocado, 2000's avocado, and 70's lime.  The Smokey Joe lid is a Uline lime.

The next sets of photos show the Uline lime Smokey next to a 70's lime lid.

The Uline Smokey is darker in shade to the 70's lime by a noticeable margin.

Great pics, Duke! I definitely see a difference.  :)

On a side note:
I have 2 of these Uline lime green SJs. One is NIB, and the other is assembled, but, never been used.
I am not really into collecting or using SJs. My black one gets used sometimes.

If .. and this is a big IF. If I make it to the Mid-Atlantic Meetup, I will bring them and be open to any offers.
I have looked into shipping them from Canada ... sadly it's very pricey ... +$200! I didn't like that.  :-\

Great pics, Jeff!
Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?
A: When you are not allowed to question it.

I thought I'd chime in on this one. I just picked up a Uine SJ the other day and this is a picture of it next to my NIB limey. The colors of the picture are pretty true to what it looks like in real life. Have never seen a C&B in person, though.

Duke

From Jeff's pictures you can see a very clear difference between the limes and cado's. I'm partial to the old cado, nut I sure wish we could get hold of a seventies green gasser or smokey. That would really be an interesting shade to get a first hand look at.

Different shades of lime too.  The one on the right is a key lime (almost neon in person).

I have the uline, crate and barrel, and late 60s/early 70s lime 22. All three are completely different colors.
Not everyone deserves to know the real you. Let them criticize who they think you are.

Fabulous (collections) pics of the greenies !

Then there's these ones which are not hard to tell apart from all the lighter shades........

What most people call "Hunter Green " or sometimes "Forest Green".....mine's too beat to get a good pic, so......from the most famous kettle pic on the InterToob, far right:

And Here:

I think it came OTS & maybe OTG?

And of course, the all-timer:

"If you want it fancy there is BBQ spray paint at home depot for that. "
    Covered, damper-controlled cooking.....IF YOU PLEASE !!!
"But the ever versatile kettle reigned supreme"

I just passed a sad looking green SJG to Hogsy yesterday. And I think it was a darker shade from what is depicted here. I'll see if I have a picture of it and post it later.

If it breathes, we can cook it!

Mine seems a bit lighter. Almost brighter, but it could be just me.

A Wonderful Family!!!

Found it.

Great thread idea....

Here's another shot of a dark-green SJ.

Interested in ANY offset handle SJs you may have.
