I was doing my daily search last night and saw a "charcoal barbecue" for $50. It wasn't really close to my house and I was about to scroll right past it but decided to open the link.

The first thing I noticed was the plastic handles. It was either a happy cooker or a Sears econokettle.

I was overjoyed when I saw the second pic.

I fired off an email to the seller. I never heard back. I drove to work and sent another email. This time from my work address. She responded immediately stating she was available now. I took an early lunch and headed out. I was willing to buy the whole thing just to get the Corn 'n' Tator ring.

I arrived in about 45 mins and took a look at the kettle. It was a Sears econo kettle. I doubt it was used more than 2 times. Pretty clean but dusty. The slotted ash pan was near perfect. The daisy wheels functioned perfectly. I told her I was buying it only to get the corn n  tator ring and was most likely going to sell the grill. When asked to name my price for the ring I asked if $10 was ok. She was fine with it. I drove home with a big smile on my face.

Good Show!!!!

......but we're kinda left hangin' here.....did you also take the grill?

....and does it have the coveted "Internal Ash Pan"?

Whoops,

I bought the ring only. This model came with a slotted external ash pan. If it had the internal pan I would have bought the whole grill. I really have no more room for another grill but would have bought if necessary.

OK.....Good Show!!!!

Ring's in pretty darn nice shape.....they work grate !!!!!

I overlap them right on top of the regular grate, that way other stuff can be done at the same time....

The handles of each line up fine.......

I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!

If it makes you feel better, I probably blew through $20 worth of gas driving there and back.

Nice work, Hatch!  That makes three of 'em in the Mid-Atlantic chapter.  We will have to get together this summer and cook us up some CORN!

The best thing about the corn-n-tator ring?  It actually WORKS!   I've tried a zillion ways to cook corn on a grill, but the ring does it up the best of all, no contest.

I'm in! I'm surrounded by Eastern Shore sweet corn farms.

Peas, thanks to you every single time I go to Unique Thrift, I go to the outdoor section first and look for corn rings.

Okay, Hatch, let's wait for the peak of the season, get together up in Maryland,  and then fire up three grills filled with corn.  It'll be epic.
