Steaks on the kettle
« on: February 16, 2014, 05:43:12 PM »
I said that I'd do steaks this weekend.  Here they are.

Getting the charcoal going

The steaks are on along with a couple of nailed potatoes.  My better half wanted filet.  I, of course, prefer a ribeye.   :)

I thought they turned out well. Mine tasted great.  It's amazing the difference a little smoke makes.

Thanks for looking.   ;)

You sure didn't skimp on the charcoal.  lol  Great lookin steaks!
Made steak & (sweet) taters on the grill last night!  (along with lobster tail, asparagus, and roasted red pepper)
Much like your household, I prefer a ribeye or NY strip while wifey loves her filet.
Those are pretty big taters, how did the nails work out?
I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!

Yeah, I've got to get a feel for how much charcoal is needed for a cook.  Ha!!  The nails worked well. I put the potatoes on right after I dumped the coals and left them on for about 10 minutes after I pulled the steaks and they were done.  No complaints.

I picked up the nails last fall. I like them. I cook mine using the "basement potatoes" method.. cooking them down with the coals nails and all. Steaks look great too!

Nice job...can't go wrong with steak and potatoes!   how do you like the nails? Do they help to cook them evenly?
