I found a blackie on CL listed for $150. I left work in the middle of the day and rushed right over to pick it up. When I got there I used some negotiating skills and WKC knowledge to mention the good and point out the bad. It was far from prestige condition but I was going for a cooker and not a looker. I counter offered 80 but we settled at 100. I haven't seen a 26r listed anywhere in my area since. They are out there but are far and few between. Be ready to act fast and do what you can to snatch one up.

If you can't find one on CL you will not be disappointed with picking one up retail. If I had to start over I'd start with a 26. Honestly, once you cook on one you will be kinda pissed at yourself for not getting one sooner. I have cooked at one time: 8 pork tenderloins, 2 sear grates with a 14inch lodge pan and 12 turds, an indirect spatchcock turkey, 3 racks of ribs...etc etc.

I know it is an old thread, but here are two large chickens, corn and some sausages. Plenty of room!

I am loving my 26er!

I was the OP on this thread back in January - at that time I was looking for inspiration for my own acquisition of a 26er.

I am happy to report I have since joined the club!

Peas - if it has not been said before, I hope you keep that new grill for a long time and eventually pass it down to your son along with the picture above.  He would cherish it forever!
