What to buy
« on: November 21, 2013, 01:02:16 PM »
I have a cousin that is located in NYC for work. His work contract expires soon and he will be shipping back to Sydney. I'm not sure, but i think his work will ship all his domestic goods gratis. He has contacted me and asked for advise on what Weber grill and smoker to bring back for his own use. I explained the sizing of the WSM's and suggested he get a 22 and a 14. As far as the grill goes, I suggested a gas assist Performer.

Would anyone change or add to that list?

And are the Crate And Barrell Performers still available new?

C&B performers have been discontinued Jo. Can't go wrong with any of the WSMs. Performer is always good but maybe he could go with a 22 OTG or even a 26 OTG depending on his needs.

Hi Jo, Any combination of those would make a fine lineup but perhaps a 26'r could be in his consideration. Smoking on a large kettle may be better than on a 14" wsm depending on his needs.

Add my vote to include a 26.75. The C&B Performers are no longer sold by C&B but do come up on CL occasionally. He could look for an SS Performer as well.
kettles, smokers...

I have given him the options and will let him decide. I suggested a 22 WSM and a Performer Platinum. I also told him to be on the look out for an SS or a CB performer on CL. Unfortunately, his work will only ship for personal use. So of he was to try and bring back 2 kettles, they won't wear it.

Scoop up every grill in the area for a decent price and ship everything. A 18wsm might fit in a 22. Find a ranch kettle or a 26r. An SJ will fit in either one of those.

Don't forget some Weber charcoal chimney starters ... both regular size and the newer mini one.

It's my understanding that they're not available in Oz.   ???
