My SS Perfomer grail score

At the top of my list was a SS Performer. I've been watching this NIB 1999 on CL for a month or so. I promised myself that if it was still available the next time I had to head to upstate NY, I would go for it. I emailed the guy, and guess what?, He still had it and I was able to strike a deal. I went up today and there it was sitting in the same box he got as a wedding present in 1999 from his parents. He had never even opened it! It was awesome opening the box for the first time. He also had the brand new rotisserie and cover. I almost did a cartwheel in his driveway...

Its green! It'll match the Genesis perfectly...

It was delivered in 1993?!

I have some questions before I've had a chance to unpack it

Is this the first year of the performer with gas assist?

Also, I know the tank setup is going to have to be upgraded. I've seen the post by Bman and others about changing the fittings to the new one, but can this tank be re-certified with the new OCC fittings? Or is it easier to just get a new 5lb tank?

These are some things I will ponder all night until I get to set it up tomorrow..probably will not sleep much.

Ohmygosh!  What a dream!  What a time machine!  Congratulations on such an epic score.  And to get a NIB rotis too is unbelievable.

Don't worry too much about re-hab and re-cert.  Plenty of us use the same old tanks as that one (except ours are old and rusty!) and get them filled all the time.  The tanks do expire, but plenty of LP refill places don't sweat the dates.  And as long as they aren't leaking inside somewhere, I'm not too worried about using the old stock.

Please take plenty of photos of unboxing and setting up.  Lots of us SS lovers will relish the chance to see how these old gals came out and went together.

Good luck sleeping tonight...

Like Chauncy Gardener would say - I like to watch...

Record each and every step of the unpacking. No detail is too small. Keep every scrap of packaging. We are all waiting to perv this grail, and all wish we were Being There.

I'm still shaking my head in wonder...

And make sure you take good care of the owner's manual-- we're gonna pressure you to scan that to PDF very soon.

How can you possibly sleep, while your grill sits in a box!!!

Alright, so I couldn't sleep. I went out to the garage and grabbed the manual out of the box.

Here's the cover

The back page. Got a little weepy...

And the Owner's Guide. Its got some great recipes. Was getting hungry reading them.

I would go outside and set it up, but I'm afraid the neighbors will see the camera flash going off, and they'll think its a rave or something...

Just WOW! NIB, happy for you and glad you had the sheckles to grab. We would probably have paid retail NIB in todays prices...Congrats, happy sleeping. ;D

Bman

Outstanding!  Congrats on truly the best condition SS to date!  Does the tank have the triangular OPD valve on it?  That would be the only issue a normal propane filler would bark at.
I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!

Chasing_smoke

congratulations that is a killer score! I've never seen a S's NIB before!

Fantastic pick up! Can't beleive it lasted on CL that long. The cover and roti are an unexpected bonus.
