All the parts you need for an MT (at least that are still available)

the replacement MT handle may be tricky since you have a larger hole where the former therm was (where the current handle is bolted to).  The therm could be loose in the lid.  Worth a shot though if you want it close to original.

Thanks for all the advice. I think I'm going to probably end up going with G$'s advice and get the fireplace handle and paint it. I don't really need the thermo for this grill because it's mainly going to be used for simple stuff (burgers/dogs etc).

And for the record it looked pretty shot when I got it but a little elbow grease and steel wool fixed her right up!

Big Sam, the other bonus of adding the thermo & housing is it covers the area between the handle supports.
Here's a shot of G$'s red showing what I mean.

I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!

Thanks G$ - It could have at least been cleaned up a little for the pic, but you'll get the idea.  haha

Any idea if the thermo and shield will fit with the fireplace handle?

Sam, maybe this will give you an idea.  Will it fit, yes.  Will there be enough usable room, not really.  I think with the bottom handle piece would be in the way unless you modified it as well....

G$

in fact .....

You would still have to drill holes for the therm shield in the fireplace handle, and boy would it be a tight fit....

My final recommendation is put the regular handle on, get grilling, and be on the look out for an upgrade lid, handle, or MT.  when you find an upgrade, sell the old and buy the new, best of both worlds.

Wow you guys are awesome! And how many grills do you have G$?!
