I wonder if this means that Weber is going "Euro" for the handle styles next year as I have thought? BTW, not diggin' the chili on the new design, YET! but then again, I'm still mourning the loss of wooden handles. So beggars can't be choosers.  The new SJP looks like they went from an oversized SJ Gold to Silver?

Definatly looks like the compact euro kettle on 'Joe legs. I do want to go see this one in person ASAP.

Got a sneak peek at Weber 2013.

The current Platinum is gone.

Hallelujah.

That thing is an abomination.

In my best Darth Vader voice: "NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"

It's part of the new Mr. Potatohead line.

It's an 18 inch ( that's assumiing it's not really a 19.75) with a lid lock without the two side vents.

The handle on top doesn't come with the heat shield.

The bottom bowl is from an economy weber.

The legs are from an 18.5 wsm.

And the ash pan is from a regular 18.5.

They couldn't at least make a couple colors available?

I can't say I will never own one. It just might be less bulky than the old SJP, which would be a plus. The air flow will probably also be better. I just hope a regular grate fits this model.

It's ok, Duke!  ;)  One of these days I'll break down and buy a black. I'm already dabbling in one with a SJS from '88. If i splurge on a full size, it'd have to have wood handles!  ;) Preferably a 70s/80s kettle.

Brick red, blue and green are all available here in the US.

I really dont like it.  It looks like the "compact" Euro design.  I wonder how much space there will be between the coals and the cooking grate.  The bowl just doesn't look deep enough.  I'll pass.   Ive been disappointed as of late with new designs from Weber from the new style Platinum (horrible and overpriced)...and discontinued thank god,  to this new SJP.   When is Weber going to come up with the next cool design and or upgrade?
Kettle collector AND cooker!

AMEN! It looked like a Charbroil and a Weber got drunk and out came the 2010 Platinum.
