Ken

Saw this CraigsList Ad yesterday and was hesitant if this was actually true.

Met the guy this morning and when I pulled up and he and his wife were there with the hatch open to their SUV and this big box in the back.  Crate & Barrel Weber Performer

It turns out they received this as a wedding present four years ago and had it in storage ever since.  Box has NEVER been open!  Oh, and they brought the cover along and threw it in for an extra $20.  Total price $170

The thermometer is the older type that's at the top near the handle.  I prefer the newer type that is built in to the lid.  Any thoughts out there of which one is better?

I'm now going to assemble this brand new unit.  Finished pictures to follow later.

I think I got a good deal??????

That's a great deal considering C and B sold that for about $350 new. Great score. Now get to cooking!!
A Wonderful Family!!!

Wow! Any one of us would have been all over that deal. Great way to start a collection. Better yet, great way to start grilling! Does it have the gourmet system grate with the removable center? Even has the cover. Once again, WOW!

You got a smoking deal. I'd pay them the 350 for nib C&B   Welcome. Can't wait to see it assembled.

That is an incredible deal, Ken!  Congrats, and welcome to the club.

I do prefer the thermo in the lid (rather than the handle), but it's not a huge preference.  If you ask very nicely, Weber will sell you the modern thermo and bezel for about 13 bucks and you can carefully drill through the lid and install it.  Which would look a little bit like 'belt and suspenders', but it's your Performer, so do what you like.  Or if you're wanting to spend some of that money you just saved, you could buy a new lid direct from Weber with the thermo built right into it.  I think they are right around 60 bucks.

Srsly, dude, you killed it today.  Nice score.

Like my tagline says "besides we got a good deal!" and you did!! Nice job! ;)

And welcome to the club!  :)

Ken

Thank you all for the warm welcome.  I assembled this new C&B Performer in about an hour and a half.  No missing pieces, no damaged/scratch items.

Here are a couple of shots as I progressed through the process and then, drum roll please.....the finished product.  Came out real nice.....Color is growing on me the more I look at it.

One small part of me say's "hate to get it dirty".....Come on, snap out of it!

Marinated spatchcock chicken is now on this new grill.  Final round of pictures after first cook to follow later.

Again, thanks everyone for the nice reception.

Beauty! ..... I found a used one on CL for a wife's girlfriend about a year ago & she paid $150 for it. It was in pretty good shape & she had to drive over an hour to get it (I was out of the area at the time). I would love to find that color!

Craig

That's an awesome deal! Looks sweet!
