Hey All, I am in search of a well built stainless steel grate for a 22 inch kettle. Weber used to have a couple options - 80728 hinged stainless grate and the 65057 GBS stainless grate. I called Weber yesterday and they said they aren't showing the 80728 anymore, has anyone else had difficulty finding it?

I believe Killa Grilla was the go to place but he has been closed now for over a year. Hunsaker seems like a good 304 stainless option. I don't necessarily need the GBS style, seems like the center will fall out when hanging the grate. They have a single hinged option that looks good.

What are the general opinions here and thanks for the help!

SNS Grills makes a SS easy spin grate that I've used for 3+ years and it has held up well.

The SNS grate is an option as well. I have a Slow n' Sear that is used a lot for indirect cooking and it has held up very well.

I like my sns 22 grate enough that I bought a 26 as well

I received a 26" hunsaker gbs with a SnS size hinge as a Christmas present.  I think they have standard SS ones as well.  Haven't used it yet, but excellent quality!

How is the thickness of the SNS stainless grate? That is really the only complaint I have read.

Thanks for the Hunsaker feedback!

I have one of those too.  I believe SnS is thinner.  That said, I've had the SnS for about 8 years.  I've cooked many a heavy roast, bird, butt, etc.  It's completely flat /true as the day I broke it in.  Not sure the SnS today is the same as the one I have, so take that into consideration.

The 22" sns grate is thin but has held up well. The 26 is thin, too. I have only used it a few times but am sure it will be fine.
I have the killa grilla with the single door for the Summit and love it, but it is probably heavier than it needs to be.
I would repurchase any of them. They are all great options over the standard plated steel, and I am not a fan of the GBS grates.

Thanks for all the input! I really appreciate. It's between the SNS grate and Hunsaker with the single hinge (non GBS).

The Hunsakers are probably made in the US
The SNS are not.

I think they are made in Missouri. Would definitely have liked to get a Killa Grilla from all the positive reviews and build quality. I think Hunsaker is as close to it currently available.

Weber still makes stainless grates. You can get a new Master Touch with them. Are you not wanting the GBS?

Sorry, rereading my original post made me realize I was not very clear. I only inquired about the non-GBS grate - part #80728. Does the center ring easily pop out of the grate if you have it hanging on the lip of the kettle while a chimney is firing up in the kettle? Only thing keeping from a GBS grate is some people seem to get annoyed with the center piece.

I hang mine on the side. Yes you have to pay attention but it's no more a work around than the hinged sections are. I don't recall ever dropping the middle section out and almost all my grates are GBS
