Paint color for Reds ? 18-1/2"
« on: July 16, 2013, 07:12:15 AM »
I am working on a project I just came up with:  take an 18-1/2" grill, buy two proQ stackers and bolt them together, turn the stackers upside down and stick it in
the grill....voila, a cheap 18-1/2 smoker.

I want to use my red Coca-Cola 18 for this project.

and, yes, I will be shortening the legs and using the dog food dish for ash deflection

Does anyone know the color for the red?

thanks

I thought I saw the red caliper paint is a close match. I will be keeping an eye on this since I want to turn my SJP into a smoker mod.

I've used http://www.amazon.com/VHT-Caliper-Paint-SP731-Spray/dp/B007233FEG purchased from a chain auto parts store I sprayed my SJG and tamale pot with just one coat.  IMHO the top looks GOOD, the pot is somewhat discolored and the bottom is BAD - but it still cooks fine so WTF  8)

I'm much too lazy to do multiple coats and clearcoat over the red.  oh well

Bryan, just an FYI, you really only need one stacker. I just sold an 18.5 OTG that I had converted to a WSM of sorts. Just beware that after your first cook that stacker becomes a part of the bowl. It is nearly impossible to separate.

You can also turn the handles on the stacker around do they fall right, as if it were right side up.

Thank you!  Wish I would have seen your cooker...I would have bought it!

The reason I was going to shorten the legs and use two was for height.

I would like to eventually get rib "hangers" so I can do a couple of racks at once versus one like I can do now with my miniwsm

I wish I had known you were in the market. I would have rather it go to a WKC member.
