Dave, if you do not mind me saying, those handles kick ass. What year  is the kettle?

Dave O

It's an EO - 95. Picked up of CL for $ 40, was in ok shape. I cleaned up inside and out with 0000 steel wool and refinished the wooden handles

Dave, that's breathtaking.  Same year as my red ss, and in MUCH better shape.  So pretty it hurts a little to look at it.  Nice job on the rescue and restoration.

Seeing all these great reds lately is almost making me question my quest for black kettles. Well, that and my wife's comment a couple weeks ago that red kettles are becoming her favorite.

Marty...you just keep that market cornered on black grills!

Dave...that grill looks outstanding.  The handle are great too.  They either must not have been that bad, or you do amazing work.  As far as the kettle...I don't see a chip anywhere, even around the top handle.  It looks new...talk more of the details on what you did and what it USED to look like.
Also...I don't see much two tone it in like I have in others.  Personally...I like the solid reds as opposed to 2 tones!

Yeah there's heaps of reds down here but finding them with no chips in them like that is the hard part
