Cabin Weber Fail
« on: July 01, 2022, 04:09:19 PM »
We are on an extended family vacation this weekend in Broken Bow OK and the family has requested pulled pork for dinner on Sunday. I couldn’t get a kettle in the car for the trip (two small kids and a pack rat of a wife, ain’t happening). I asked if there was a charcoal grill of some kind and they guy told me there’s a Weber kettle. I… should have asked for pictures. On the plus side, there’s a nice Spirit gasser that I’m using for burgers. I’ll let you guys know how the pork butt goes on this “well used” jumbo joe premium

The spirit is not bad at all…
First burner on the left set on low would get you a nice LNS temp on the right side of the grill.
But passing the opportunity to properly smoke on that kettle? No way!
Lotsa fun!!

I thought about doing that, but you’re right. If there’s a kettle I’m going to use it.

Good luck!

Decided to go ahead and cook it tonight and reheat for dinner tomorrow. 2x1 snake with some hickory. An hour in and it’s rocking steady at 225.

Finished at around midnight. I wouldn’t recommend a jumbo joe premium but it got the job done.

Nice job on the wheel repair and cook.  Can’t keep a true grill master down….

I always learn something new when I come here and would have never thought to lay my charcoal out like a snake. The first thing I learned here was putting a throwaway pan full of water in the bottom of my grill. Keep up the good work guys.

The snake is my go to when using someone else’s kettle. Need to light about 10-15 coals to start the snake and adjust the vents to hit your target temp and will go a long time. That snake lasted 9 hours.
