The Lowe's near me hasn't had a decent sale since pre-pandemic. In those days there were pallets of KBB piled everywhere. Now, they barely stock it. They stock lots of pellets, though.

HD has 2x20lb KBB for $17.88.

HD has Embers brand charcoal. Never heard of it. Has anyone used it?

Just my opinion, but embers is awful. Bought it because of price. It made the food inedible. I put the rest at the curb with a "free" sign on it and no one took it. I threw the rest away. They keep making it so somebody likes it.

Costco sale on kbb competition is better than embers. Both burn hot and fast but I feel embers has way more ash. A lot of ash usually means more potential for ash to get on your food.

I wouldn’t say it’s better. I think it depends on what you plan on cooking. In my experience if I were gonna go low and slow I would go with the regular KBB and the professional for hot and fast.

I have been buying 14 lb bags of cowboy briquettes for $8.99 at Tractor Supply, which is their regular price.  Modest sale going on right now at $7.99 for 14 lbs.
