I was gifted this kettle from a Bay Area WKC member (who had the grill passed down from his Grandpa).  It has his Grandpa's pride and joy.  He received it from a sales rep that did demos at a hardware store next to his furniture store.  The kettle was well used and lived uncovered outdoors (it had its fair share of pitting and pops).  His grandpa sanded down the kettle and spray painted it but thankfully left the demo stencil.  With continued used the paint started to flake off and the decision was made to restore the kettle.  It was sand blasted down to bare metal and the pits were filled in.  Then it sat unfinished in the garage for 5 years (life happens, I think we've all been there).  A few weeks after I was handed the baton, it was shipped to IPE.  They did an awesome job restoring it.  I polished up the legs and added the triangle ash pan that was also included (made my another Bay Area WKCer).  RRR.

Great job Sidney.  I remember seeing that sandblasted kettle sitting on a garage shelf of that Bay Area WKC member many years ago.  I totally forgot about it's existence. Look forward to seeing it in person again. That 26'er has some special history in this club also but I'll let you reveal that tidbit.

The 26er was formerly owned by WKC legend Buckie.  I believe he found it locally for $10.
