With all do respect, its absolutely nothing to be concerned over. If you actually cook on and use your grill year round and its left outside year round it will gain some 'character' over its lifetime. Weber uses good steel and good porcelain but chips, scratches, and dings can happen. Get it hot, use a Qtip and put a light coat of cooking oil over your fresh scratches on the outside of the lid. It will help season the bare steel. Once you get a nice coat of grease buildup on the inside it will be protected. Happy grilling!
