Outside of lid scratches

The outside of the lid on my 26" Kettle got a little scratched.  Kind of annoyed.  BUT is this an issue?    Will it need to be replace?

While you can't fix the enamel (it's basically glass they bake on) there's gotta be a product that would keep it from rusting. A little bit of BONDO and a sharpie would probably work.

I dont think I would BONDO inside of the kettle. If the steel is exposed I would simply polish lightly and then wipe with some vegetable oil to season it like a cast iron pan.

Kettles can have chips, scratches, dings for years without issue. Do you have pictures?  I wouldn’t bondo anything.

The lid scratches are superficial. The bowl shouldn’t be that clean if it’s getting used. The inside should be protected by a layer of carbon and grease.

The inside was cleaned today as I had to replace the One Touch system, which was broken. So I cleaned it before replacing the system.

The lid scratches are superficial. The bowl shouldn’t be that clean if it’s getting used. The inside should be protected by a layer of carbon and grease.

With all do respect, its absolutely nothing to be concerned over.  If you actually cook on and use your grill year round and its left outside year round it will gain some 'character' over its lifetime.  Weber uses good steel and good porcelain but chips, scratches, and dings can happen.  Get it hot, use a Qtip and put a light coat of cooking oil over your fresh scratches on the outside of the lid.  It will help season the bare steel.  Once you get a nice coat of grease buildup on the inside it will be protected.  Happy grilling!

Thanks so much.  I come on here to learn from everyone else's experience, and I humbly thank you!.  I just cleaned it two and then noticed all these things and so I got worried.  I probably got it too clean in retrospect. 

I'm am enthusiastic noob (who's obsessed with this kettle).

I used to clean my kettle like crazy, but I do believe it cooks better with a layer of some carbon/grease in the bowl. Not too much, but some.
