New Lid Bale!
« on: May 27, 2021, 03:17:47 PM »
As you know, the Happy Cooker had an internal U-Shaped rod that held the lid up, with a hook inside the lid. My rod was lost decades ago.
So a new Lid Bail was ordered from Weber. I only had to drill one hole to make this work. One of the existing holes for the original lid holder were used, and worked nicely.
Here are some photos...

It does not open a full 90 degrees, but who cares? It works fine for me! And I don't have to put the lid on the ground anymore.

I did not use the center bracket mount strap, as it is not needed with my lid. Used 4 different drill bits, very small to start and worked my way up to the final bit. That enamel (4 decades old) is very tough! I bought an extra lid bail to attach to my other Weber...the one that is in a back-up role, being a bench warmer.
