Inaugural Cook on my Glen Blue 26” Introducing Marilyn
« on: May 16, 2021, 05:09:18 PM »
Ordered this beauty in July 2020 and it’s been in my Weber room since delivery.  Tired of just dusting it off every month, what’s the point ?  She’s got a beauty mark that’s factory original and I love that.  Anyway, after painting our deck over the weekend I decided to bring this beauty out and enjoy her.  Bone in Ribeyes for me and my sweetheart tonight , Slow N Sear XL and Killa Grilla grates in for the party.  We prefer sear then slow to finish….Success!  Oh yes and Zavod44 handles of course [emoji6]

That’s awesome Greg,  GB finally came outside to play!
Nice looking first cook too, I'm sure there will be many more to come.

Cheers

Thanks guys….These steaks were fairly large, and it was strange to move them to the cool side - they seemed so lonely and “out there.”  I’ve heard the extra real estate comments about the 26” before and it’s true.  Gotta step it up and cook sides simultaneously!

Great cook!
Your Glen looks fantastic with the Zav’s and Lilyankee upgrades. I’ve been using my Glen 26 since I bought it and love it.

Grate first cook, mine has been my go to grill since her inaugural cook
Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Thanks!  Totally forgot to mention the SS handle upgrade from Lilyankee.  I love the clean look of the handle....

The real estate is very very very very nice.

What charcoal basket were you using?

Using the Slow N Sear XL from SNS grills.  It's built very strong out of SS and worked well on my first cook.  I also have smaller versions for my 22" that I really like too.  They're pricey, but should last a lifetime.....

Can you remove the water reservoir to make a bigger basket?   I'd like bigger direct grilling and better temp control with the 26.

No, the water trough is welded in place on the XL.

Good to know.

Keep us updated on the 26.  Feel like we're lacking in tips re the 26 on here!

There are lots of guys in the WKC with much more experience and advice on the 26” kettles than I.  I’m very green and in no way a pro.  One cook in and I really love mine.  I’m looking forward to learning on mine and enjoying the ride.
