Weber Price Increase
« on: April 16, 2021, 09:32:43 AM »
Looks like about a 6% increase on all charcoal grills.  An 18 now cost what a basic 22 did 5 years ago.   Looking the trends in the the cost of steel, I’m not surprised.

Yep, @michaelmilitello . Kettles have gone up by about $20 in the past few years and steel is probably the main driver in that equation.  But, kettles are still great values at those prices.
I like my Kettles like my coffee....strong and black.

One fellow grilling brother that I follow on youtube was forced to give up his charcoal basket making business due to the costs of steel and shipping.  It's a shame - he made some really cool products for kettles and WSMs.

That's him.  I was fortunate to get one of his SJ and JJ setups for low and slow.  Health issues were an additional cause, but the steel costs finalized his decision.

Makes sense. Frankly I’m still impressed that a company can get parts from China, assemble the rest of it in IL, send it to a retailer, then have it delivered to my door for a Benjamin Franklin. And still have it last for decades. That’s pretty amazing to me.
