I picked up a 2000 OTG off Facebook Marketplace, in a color that I can only describe as purple. I'm wondering if this grill should be properly described as Plum, Burgundy, or something else? I'm red/green colorblind, so I'm not a great judge of the finer details of some colors. Even if I could see perfectly, I've seen people argue over what they think a particular grill is from pictures posted online.

Is there a definitive answer to be gleaned from the model year?

Post a pic. There's a few colors that fall within that spectrum. There's a purple like an eggplant, and a dark maroon or burgundy color. Your kettle is likely one of these. There's also brick red which is a darker red but with less blue tinge so it doesn't usually get confused for the others. Idk how your colorblindness would affect your perception of all these colors though.

I will once I have sunlight to pop a good picture. I can pick up blue in a sea of red pretty distinctly, so I can pretty safely rule out the brick option.

Since it's a purple(ish) DD code, it's likely a Plum.  Was a two year color run with most being from 2000

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn't?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I've amassed a nice collection, but I'm missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

Heh... that's the opposite answer from what I got from Chris over at TVWBB.

If it looks like this, it's Plum

I think we have a winner. This is what it looks like under overcast skies.

Chris is a good dude, but TVWBB is a WSM site and WSM only come in black.

lol - I'll forgive Chris. He does yeoman's work in maintaining that database of old catalogs and such.
