Gray weber question
« on: March 18, 2021, 07:37:08 PM »
I've been researching online but there is no real data on the history or even validity of gray kettles from weber. Some say it's faded black others I see that they did. What years did they do this?

Weber has done a few greys over the years.
I know for a fact that there is L,M and N code grey 22.5 kettles.
I have owned one of each.
They also came out with a grey charcoal and gas go anywhere in 1991 only.
I know weber also did a 2 tone grey in the late 60s aka the "Plainsman".
And beleive they have also done a slate grey in the late 2000's.

I remember reading about a crate and barrel dove grey DR code performer in another blog. Wish I could get my hands on one.

Here's a 1988 K Code true grey I picked up a while back.  It has since moved onto another WKC member. One way you can tell a grey kettle from a faded grey black kettle is the true grey will shine and the porcelain will have reflections.  A faded black kettle is dull and will have show no reflections in the porcelain.
