Does anybody have any information on the updates coming to the Weber Summit Charcoal Grill?

Thanks,

SmallBBQr

Here are some links...there is still some discussion on what will be included now at the reduced cost.  I'm waiting for them to show up here in Western Canada...nothing yet at local dealer.

Maybe no diffuser?  Slightly lighter construction?  No propane starter?  No charcoal bin or diffuser shelf?

The stand alone version is going to lose the snap-jet propane igniter and the pricepoint is going to be lowered I believe. The cart model will be keeping the propane assist - I assume this is to better justify the difference in price between the cart and stand alone models. Both units will also now have the standard chrome weber logo located right in the center of the belt strap support.

Edit - may just be the stand alone with the new logo placement but i swear i saw a pic of the cart with the same layout

I think they will sell a lot of these at the ~$1000 price point.   That will compete well with KJ and BGE.   Probably undercuts them at a 24 inch model.

It looks like the cart model also no longer comes with the hard plastic charcoal bin - it now comes with a new accessory Weber charcoal holder bag

From the Aussie link above, it appears the table version does not have the ignition system either...but who knows...

It Canada, they wanted $2600 for the original.  We'll see where the new model comes in....

Interesting! Thats a completely different pic than whats in our dealer book (Canada)

This is the Aussie version. No gas assist and has the plastic charcoal holder. Expensive but worth every cent.

All I can say is I sure hope they get the price down....a LOT!  Would have happily gone without the propane starter (for example).

I'm pretty sure I'm going to order one. I guess I should probably wait for the price drop but I do like the gas assist.

They are up on the Weber (US) website with new price.  Listing says coming soon.

I'm curious if there are more changes to it. Sounds like they're adding "kamado" to their name.

Funny, the new kamado does not show the diffuser plate.  To me, that's a must have for this style of cooking.

I read it might not be included, or will be a single wall version.  I would agree that "kamado" cooking certainly needs a diffuser, but they might be thinking people will just supply their own (ceramic, steel, water pan) instead of the air-gap one.  Personally, I don't really care if it has it or not...though the little hinge on the current one is nice.
