Wings and Afterburner (pic heavy)
« on: June 14, 2020, 04:02:57 PM »
I don't know if the Vortex is sold here in Canada, but my local BBQ specialist store sells a similar product called an Afterburner, which is made in Canada.  It seems well made.  See attached pics.

I did wings for the first time tonight on the 26er.  Ran them at about 425 and then finished at 500 or 510.  They could have used 10 more minutes, I think.  Most were crispy, some weren't.  On the average I was very happy, but will try again.

I patted them as dry as possible and then put some aluminum-free baking powder on them this morning, and then in the afternoon some rub and olive oil.   I don't have room to let them sit on a cooking rack to totally dry out.

I made 1/3 with buffalo wing sauce and the rest I left alone.

My son thought they were incredible.  He's 3.5.  Hah

Looks really good!  I got an early father's day present this weekend, a vortex and the weber grate that has the removable center.  Looking forward to a wing cook very soon.
