Wood Dale refers to the city stamp on the vent.  All Wood Dales are metal top handles, but I do not think that all metal top handles are Wood Dales (I think), if the SAT style analogy works, as metal top handles lasted into 1961/maybe leftover stock for 1962, and I think Wood Dale was only the 1950s (again, I think).  Somebody more knowledgeable will show up and confirm or correct me.

Sometime between 1960-1963, manufacturing moved to Arlington Heights, ILL.... Wood top handle kettles were "all new walnut handle" in 1964. Chances are excellent there are some metal top handled Arlington's floating around out there. I noticed this Wood Dale that you scored has the lid vent in the current or "modern" position on the lid as in relation to the handle. That's about the time that Weber moved the vent on the 22's...they stayed where they were on the 18's. But that ash catcher is a Wood Dale U groove pan. All the Arlington pans I've seen (so far) are the J (twist style) .

It's a nice kettle
