Thermometer display location for MBH?

I have an igrill 2 thermometer that I want to use on the kettle. I cooked a brisket yesterday but needed to use a TV tray to set the display on. I saw somewhere a thermometer that has a clip on arm that attaches to one of legs. Or I've also seen the dragon bbq shelf, though I'd probably rather have an old Weber shelf of some type. Suggestions? What are you guys using.

On my old maverick, I hang it from a cheap magnetic hook.

How big is the hook?
Does the display get hot from being close to the bowl?

Thanks

I would need to rig up something for the base of the igrill for that to work but I could try something similar.

sticks out maybe an inch and a half.  The curve of the bowl prevents it from getting hot and it's on the indirect side. Been using it for years without issue.
