Someone asked me for a gift suggestion for a grilled that has everything.

What are some nice knife suggestions for a gift?

Probably talking $50-$100 range

Not the best handle ergonomics and find it slightly slippery but the blade is top notch at that price range.

I really like Shun, but they're designed for right handers and my wife is a lefty
Global is very similar blade with an ambidextrous handle

I have a set of Shun knives.  Love them.  How about input from someone that uses knives daily for a living.   @inkaddictedchef1

Does it have to be all Japanese? My favorite knives have a Japanese style blade with a western style handle. I've also strayed away from giving out full size chef's knives as I've noticed that it's hard to peg down all of a person's personal preferences for such a large knife. My go to gift knife these days is a Windmuehlenmesser K2 4" Petty knife. It has a unique santouku sytle blade that is pretty versatile for both paring and light chopping. I usually gift the stainless version unless I'm confident that the recipient will take proper care of a carbon blade.

No it doesn't need to be Japanese.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I'm passing them all onto my friend's wife.  I'll let you know what she ends up getting for him.
