UK Hinged Master-Touch
« on: May 27, 2019, 01:45:29 PM »
So I noticed this grill when I was doing some searches on YouTube, but as far as I can tell it isn't available in the US.   It is available in the UK though. Not saying I really need it, but I would love to get my hands on a couple of those hinges.  The unknown hinges would work fine, but these seem pretty interesting.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get the part or info on it coming to the US?

I don't have one myself (have the standard Master Touch) but from what I've seen, some lids have a tendency to bounce with that hinged lid (i.e. the lid won't sit flush with the bowl and 'hovers' above it instead, due to the spring/hinge tension).

Personally, I would rather stick with the original non hinged version....

Here's the solution to that issue, from @vwengguy - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nc80vZ8cVNg

I bought this recently.
I don't have any problems with the lid.
My first assembly attempt was already making an OK seal for the lid, but having the lid on without the hinge was still better. So i decided to obsess about it until i couldn't tell a difference in the amount of smoke coming out with and without using the hinge.
The lid does have a irregular shape and lets out some smoke in one spot, but as i understand it this is normal for Weber kettles.

This is my first kettle, so i have nothing to compare it to, but i do like that the lid is easy to lift with one hand and stays out of my way when its on the hinge.
