Lovin' the ABC 18.5 Charcoal Basket
« on: May 05, 2019, 01:23:06 PM »
I know. I'm Marty. The Marty basket Marty. I should feel horrible for cheating on myself, but this thing is great:
https://abcbarbecue.com/product/slow-n-sear-charcoal-basket/

I've been cooking smallish things lately, (cooking for two mainly - I did planked salmon last night) and the functionality of this can't be beat. Combined with an Outrider it just could be the perfect combo. Here's a pair of split breasts just getting started:

Basically holds a full chimney if and when needed. Lightweight. Easy to dump. Plenty of air circulation. Bottom line: it's a 1st string player on my team.

Disclaimer: None. I have not talked to ABC people prior to this endorsement. I bought this at full retail.

I don’t buy it. That second chicken breast is probably for Dave right after he hand-delivered your basket for free

Totally agree with Marty.  The 18” size is already extremely fuel efficient and the SnS enhances its functionality.  Also protects my colored 18 MBHs.

I do wish its contours better matched the bowl and it were taller to increase fuel capacity... I also don’t understand why they don’t make it in stainless steel anymore.

Damn, with that "unsolicited" endorsement I may need to get one, I am using my 18's a little more often as well

I use one in my Summit charcoal.  No complaints here.

I picked up the SS version when they were 1st released. I use mine in most every 18 cook that I do. It's perfect protection for the vintage kettles. And when camping, it comes along inside the outrider.

Thanks for the reminder. I have been meaning to order this for my 18.

I love mine! ♥️
Mine has taken a permanent place in my JJ and sees everything from Low & Slow Pulled Pork to Hot and Fast ribs[emoji91].
I was lucky enough to get a SS one way back when.
I also had to pay full price and fly from Europe to Michigan to pick it up!
Totally the best thing for a colored kettle or JJ or outrider!
