Am I the only one that doesn't care for the newer looking wheels that they have put on the 26" post 2010? To me they look cheap or flimsy. I like the classic black/whitewall ones. I wonder if its a preview of things to come, like will they do 6" versions of these on the 18/22.5"s? Im considering buying (ok, hoarding  ::) ) 2 of the old style 8" ones for down the road if I splurge on a new 26". (wife not killing me, permitting)

I agree, the gangster white walls are the best.

Gotta have the white walls. 8)  I hate the new hubcap style they came up with  >:(

I like the old metal ones on everything.

Do you have original '50s metal wheels or replicas?

They used the metal ones into the mid to late 60's and I have about three sets of those. I have never owned a metal top handle, always wood and they discontinued the metal tops after "62.

Im partial to the older style wheels myself.  Anyone have a spare 8" wheel with a white wall for a Sequoia?  Mine is missing one original wheel.

THanks in advance

I guess I was thinking of the early wheels on the 50s kettles. Now I understand. I'd love to get ahold of some more metal wheels and even some late 60s/early 70s plastic wheels. But they are hard to come by on their own.

I'd like to see something like the vent photo collection for wheels. Maybe not as many varieties, but hey, that makes it easier right? Once it stops raining here I'll take a shot or two of the ones I roll with and put 'em up.

Good idea Marty!  I'm sure between everyone on here, we would have all the wheels covered

OK, here's one from my 1995 Performer. There may be a date code of some kind in the mold, but I can't find it.

Troy we need another tab for pictures!

As far as the look of the wheels, I think I like whatever wheels come on the grills.  I like the old wheels on the old grills and I like the new wheels on the new grills.  Just how I'm wired. I like things factory stock...

Funny you should mention that. I broke down and put the original legs and wheels back on my 18.5. It just looked weird with newer wheels. I'll touch the wheels up later I guess. A little rust is ok for now I guess.

Another view of steel wheels. Not sure how old. Grabbed this shot from a photo I found on line.
