Hi all,

Long time listener first time caller.

I have a blue 22.5 Kettle in fairly good condition, except the top vent.

When I got it the top vent wizzed around like a fidget spinner, tt looks like the previous owner tried to clean behind the vent and levered it away.
I fixed the looseness with the two hammer trick. no problems
However the vent is mostly flat and not moulded to the lid.

How to I mould the vent again without removing it?

Um iv never heard of one being mostly flat. Loose but not flat. There no way i know.of to do it without removing it.

Light tapping with a rubber mallet might help.  It worked for me with warped bottom vents.

Find a tin can about the same diameter (but smaller) than the vent.
Use a propane torch to heat up the entire vent.
Press the tin can on the vent, really hard, and hold it until the vent cools. It should take on it's original shape.
It's worked well for me. YMMV.
I've got Webers. 10 - WSMs, 5 - 22.5" kettles, 2 - 18.5" kettle, 2 - SJS, 2 - SJP, 4 - WGA, 1 vintage Coolie Pan

Out of curiosity, did you press an OPEN end of the slightly smaller tin can against the vent or a CLOSED end?

The new top vents are tin and don't reshape like the aluminum ones did.
