I've never understood that either. I fork my protein so it's fairly centered and let 'er rip. I wouldn't know which position to put it at. So far so good. What dictates when you need to use the counter weight?

I can usually get it fairly centered too, but if I tinker with the counter weight I can get it 100%. I would assume a perfectly centered load would be the most kind on my old motor. I've done it without, just wanted to complete it. And Jules V graciously offered to send an extra he had my way, for which I am super grateful!
