Two kettle questions

I’m surprised this grate cleaning topic comes up so often. All of my friends family coworkers own and use grills. Not a single person I know does anything more than a quick scrape when hot. That’s all that is needed. It’s not even a second thought in my area.

I agree with the heat kills all comments above. My only exception is when I cook a turkey and want clean drippings for gravy. For that, I use breakup spray cleaner. Good for restorations too.

Nice to have a good steak cooked on a clean grate without black grease from previous cooks. That's the "flavor" I don't care for. It's not that much extra work. I enjoy spending time with my kettle and don't mind cleaning in between cooks. A regular old chrome plated steel grate will last forever.
