1965 John Deere Kettle?
« on: October 29, 2018, 01:37:41 PM »
Owner advertised this as a John Deere BBQ. Claims it was made in 1965. Anyone have any info on these?

It’s made by Structo with a handle labeled “John Deere”.  Cast aluminum.  Hinged lid.  Multi position charcoal & cook grates.  Single, large damper in bowl & lid.  Has a tiny slip-on ash catcher.  1965 seems plausible, but can’t be sure.  I’ve not been able to find production info on these.  This one has the earlier lid hinge design, which is far superior to later design (IMO).

Here’s mine for reference:

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn’t?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I’ve amassed a nice collection, but I’m missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

Hope you picked it up. Pretty cool score, especially up here in Canada.
