Mod Month 2018

Love the posters.

I did a simple mod that’s not new but new to me.  I drilled and added bolts to the roti ring and used the ring and water bowl out of the 18 wsm to turn the performer into a full indirect smoker.

I think im going to do this to mine too. I dont use the roti enough and i like the idea of multi functionality

That was my motivation. This adds a lot of versatility imo.

My ribs got a lot darker than I wanted. Maybe a combination of cooking at 300ish for three hours and the sugar in the spritz. No wrap either. The flavor and texture were great though so I can’t complain. I need to dial it in a little.

I wanted a hook to hang my OXO tongs on when I got my 2nd gen performer.  So I got some SS hardware at the hardware store. They didn't have a hook, but they had a eyelet.  Cut it into a hook. Had to file the top of the slot just a little to fit the hook. Smoothed the edges of the cut,  and we are in business.

We're mid-way through Mod Month, and I'm about the same with my mod for the year. Something we have probably all thought about, and it's really quite easy. How many times do you find that a single 22.5" kettle isn't quite enough, or you have two completely different things to cook, but wrangling two separate grills is just too much hassle? What if you could have two grills in one cart? What if that cart was a classic SS Performer? What if one was an 18.5"? Well, it's not a fantasy, it's becoming reality:

Custom wide SS brackets do the job nicely:

Plenty of clean-up and fabrication left to do, but I'm jazzed how it's coming together.

My daily workhorse. Built as a novelty but turned out to be much more functional than I've ever imagined. Dual gas assist utilizing a single regulator and  a single igniter.

3 rotisseries spinning at once.

There's quite an extensive amount of mods on this build so I'll start a separate mod thread shortly.

I could tell from your previous posts  that you're very handy so you really don't need my help. Actually not including touch up paint dry time, it took less than 2 hours to complete the grill.

Got inspired by the following thread:

http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/weber-grill-modifications-customs/simple-mod-for-lump-charcoal/

Cut up EM (expanded metal). One each for a 22" and 18" kettle.
