As most of you know I collect SSPs. About 3 months ago I came across an ad on FBMP for a green SSP.
Looking at the picture it appeared to be a different shade of green, much lighter. I made contact with seller and eventually spoke on the phone. She told me she bought it new at Williams Sonoma in 2001. I was intrigued as I've never seen or heard of a different color green. I reached out to a few Fellas here. Some said it was Hunter green which is the dark green, which I already have. @Cellar2ful told me that WS green was lighter. If memory serves me right he called it like Christmas green. ??? The seller was one of the nicest people I've dealt with. It was 216 miles from me in between Syracuse and Rochester. After explaining to her I have a LOVE for these grills, she said SOLD. Take your time picking it up. It's in the barn under a cover where it's been for 13 years. Well 2 1/2 months later it seemed the stars aligned. I set to meetup with @Poorfolks to do a trade in Auburn, which is where the SSP is. Also @AZogas had agent a NIB Bud Light Dark Blue SJ and 6 LED lights from @603kettle from the Gloucester meetup. I unfortunately had to miss due to 2 inches of water in my basement. That's another story. So last week I drive the 3:15/ 216 miles and secure the SSP. I meetup with Lou and swap stories as well as some parts for him and an 18 Black thumbscrew with no lid for me. I get back on the road about 3:30 and I'm on my way to meet Alex at his house. I arrive at 6:15. Gracious host as well I got the tour of his collection and stories of Gloucester. >:( I head out on the last hour of the trip. As I've been driving back, I look at the lid in the front seat a few times and start to question if I just drove all this for the same green I already have. This went on, on and off for a bit. When I got home at 8:30 I drove straight to the barn. All my worries were over as I could plainly see the difference immediately. It took all of about 5 hours time to restore this beauty. It has an original Weber SSP cover that is vented half over the kettle. So 9 1/2 hours and 443 miles later I was looking at SSP color number 7. I still need a brownie. ;)

Picture from the ad

Much lighter shade then Hunter green SSP

And against Gen 2

Broke her down to pieces and started

Original bolts holding kettle to the frame

Frame is rust free.

Even the clamp on hose is like new. I didn't clean it.

And after compounding and waxing the frame

That's a nice green and looks almost new. Those should have the stainless burner and sweeps also.

Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Sweeps are SS. I'm not sure about the burner but it cleaned up real nice.

I'm almost strictly on ssp and gen2 and what I've noticed is that the last few years of ssp and the first couple years of gen3 came with ss sweeps and burners. Obviously all gen2 came with both items in stainless.

Ive had 5x ssp, going back to'92 I think. I think all have had SS burners and I think SS sweeps.  Maybe not the old style sweep, those I upgraded to "H" SSP sweeps

That was dubbed 420 Green a while back. Nice grab!

You guys really don't know how nice this SS performer is. I seen it unrestored a few minutes after he picked it up.
Minty and beautiful!
