No polishing of her legs?  :D
I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!

I commend you on the restore, but it does look like she would benefit from a little more polishing. Is that black stuff on the lid impervious to 0000?

That having been said, my sideways K two tone redhead is still a mess, lol. I do hope to get her (and my WSM) cleaned up this weekend.

Bryan is hooking me up with this hopefully next week if schedules work out and I plan to polish the rest and shine it up.  Can't wait!  You are the man.

looks good. When you have some more time, drop a wire brush in your drill and hit the triangle.  Then turn the triangle over so it is installed right side up. Hit the top of the triangle with the wire brush and add a rubber chair leg cap to keep her from rolling down the hill.

Congrats, Bosibus, and kudos to Bryan for sharing the love (and keeping it in the club).  That's a sweet grill!

FANTASTIC!  Plus, adding the final touches & polishing yourself will have more meaning each time you look at & fire it up.

what does the "sideways k" mean? sorry I'm new to the boards and new to weber products.

thanks

When they stamp the date code onto the vent, it's usually lined up with the other text so it reads right when you look at it. For some reason many (all?) of the Ks had the letter stamped sideways. Kind of Kaddywampus if you know what I mean. It's as simple as that - no conspiracy theories unless someone knows something I don't. (Which is almost always the case.)

For the last 20 years or so, Weber charcoal kettles and smokers have a letter stamp on the lid vent to denote the year of manufacture.  'K' corresponds to 1988, and for some mysterious reason, lots of the 'K's are stamped sideways.

Actually, it might be all of them, I'm not sure.  I've never seen one that was upright.

So a lined up K would be unusual, you might even call it a "Special K " ( sorry, it's really boring at work today)
