    sac·ri·lege
    ˈsakrəlij/Submit
    noun
violation or misuse of what is regarded as sacred.
"putting ecclesiastical vestments to secular use was considered sacrilege"
synonyms:   desecration, profanity, blasphemy, impiety, irreligion, unholiness, irreverence, disrespect, profanation
"any form of gambling on the church grounds, including bingo and raffles, would be sacrilege"

I am engaging in yet another mental debate with myself pertaining to a Red Mist SSP that I have up for sale on this forum.  I am not entirely sure I can bring myself to sell it!  (Apologies to the forum member who is expressing serious interest presently.)

I do recognize what a hard find a grate condition red mist SSP is... so that's part of the reluctance, but I do think I can probably sell it without a lifetime of serious regret.  (There are other fish in the sea.)

ONE of the reasons I'm selling is that, though I do love the fact that it is 'original'... I don't really love the older style SSP frame.  Particularly, as I'm 6'7", and like the newer performers, with the increase in height.  If I wanted to get a performer again, I could live with a newer one in crimson, I think.  (The other reason I'm selling it:  I'm also thinking I can live without performers, and just have kettles with a stand-alone table/cart.  I've got a 26er and a Red Limited inbound.)

That said, I am a huge fan of brewtownbeatdown's "perfect performer"... which requires a red mist kettle.  (And which I agree is perfect.)

If I DID decide to keep the kettle... it would be to clone that "perfect kettle" by putting it on a more modern frame.  If I had a performer... I'd want it to be a "perfect performer."

Thoughts:  Is it kettle sacrilege to disassemble a grate condition "all original" SSP?  For the good of humanity... should I leave this "all original" SSP, for which I even have the manuals, in "all original" condition?

I personally wouldn't feel it's sacrilege as long as the other kettles would be "frankenkettled" back together and still given life and funtionality. but I'm just an old purest at heart.

In the end...they're only grills.  If you want to swap it out onto another frame and make other changes, the sun will still rise tomorrow.

Heh... thanks.  Already have a set of those on hand for my incoming wobbly-legged 26er.  Need to figure out my perfect 26er plans as well!

It's not sacrilegious but make sure to try to pass the leftover parts to someone who will appreciate them.

If I do anything... it will most likely be taking two performers, and turning them into two slightly different performers.  (Smart money says I'll be listing a black kettle on an SSP frame eventually.)

You are going to hell, just for even thinking about it.
Just so you know, in hell there are no Webbers.  Only cheap rusted out grills with no lids & matchlight charcoals, but no matches.

REPENT!
