What's the best way to bring life into an older wooden handle?

Thank you

I buy from Brandon all the time, that's not what I'm asking.

Tung oil or butcher block oil with beeswax.

Meatpolice

Sand first?

I'd lightly sand it, use compressed air to blow the dust away then do 5 coats of Tung Oil

Great tip. That looks awesome. I've been wondering what to do with my "tired" original pat pending lid handle. Now I know. Thanks @kettlebb and @meatpolice.

I can't take credit. I've heard other members say this is the way to go. Just got tired of looking at worn handles so I gave it a shot.

Thanks for taking the time to post the pic of the result, because it looks pretty damn good, so you can take credit for that.  I have some with the original finish on them & can't decide if I prefer the way yours looks better.  I'll keep the original finish on those, but will fix up a couple other ones I have because that is just so purty.

Hal

Not Weber handle specific, but I have done outdoor pieces with 10 (no joke) 10 coats of tung oil. Definately helps the weather resistance on the parts...

I had great success with handles just like that by lightly sanding then 1 coat of light stain.....then 3 coats of clear spar.

I believe it was @harris92 recommended using tung oil on the two rivet handles and spar varnish on the single screw handles.  I sand the two rivet handles with #0000 steel wool and sand the single screw handles with regular fine sandpaper prior to application of the tung oil or Spar varnish.

Here is a before and after of a Tung oil application on a original two rivet handle.
