I was lucky enough to pick up a vintage Weber wok over the weekend. Has anyone cleaned one up that is in poor condition? Looking for ideas. Thanks!

Wow, that's kickass! IMHO, I'd treat is as if I'm bringing a cast iron skillet back to life. Someone else has definitely done it here and can point you in the right direction.

I'm not sure on the clean-up, but cool score!  Someone here will know.

First off, nice score. I love mine.

Fire! Burn it off.

Or a nice vinegar soak, then fire.

Then, season the heck out of it with oil, oh yeah, and fire.

Ok, do not have one so was not certain (got only the SS version for 22). I was asking cause lately there was short vid by cast iron chaos on YT warning to not use those enameled and antique CI pans.

Thanks for the vid the only thing dangerous weber put out are the red kettles, don't know what other colors are in the same boat my guess would be yellows and limes but I'm no expert.

What's the story behind the score?

I bet evaporust would work well on that.

Thanks @maceggs bead blasting it is!

As far as the story it starts like most other finds....cruising Craigslist getting stares from the wife for "are you looking at grills again"   in Minnesota and South Dakota and of course western WI.   Being from South Dakota I family spread throughout the state...

An add pops up for a Weber Firepit in the black hills....I click on it and all I see is a Weber Wok. Instantly call the add and secure the item....now to talk my brother into going and picking it up....no problem he says and he is there the next day at 5 with $40 cash.

He calls me when he gets there and says....are you sure you want this rusted out piece of metal...it's in horrible shape....of course we know the answer...

He then takes it back to my parents a couple weeks ago....I cooked in a KCBS comp this weekend and the parents delivered the goods!

A lot of family hauling to make the 10 hour trip back to the twin cities....I will post after pics when it's time.

Awesome score, now you can mark off the fire pit from your signature
Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill
