For $30, a road trip to Chicago from Indy seemed like a good deal.  We decided to make a day out of it.  My 13 year old came along.  I was born and raised in Elmhurst, IL.  The seller was about five blocks from where my grandmother lived for 35 years in Elmwood Park.   I thoroughly enjoyed showing my son where she lived.  We also stopped by the home I grew up in in Elmhurst.  After the pick up, we had lunch at Johnnies for an Italian beef and an ice.  I know there's a lot of Chicagoland wkc members, so you know what I'm saying!   Beautiful trip down memory lane.  Went there all the time as a kid.  Later on we cruised downtown and saw some sights. Awesome day and kettle find.

Oh, you're probably wanting to see the kettle too!   inside was nasty and the lid was moldy.....needed a mask
clean up underway cleaning up well!   I need some new hubcaps to reassemble it next week.

Nice pick up with the kiddos!  I'm sure they'll always remember that road trip when they see this sweet kettle.

Sweet rescue/cleanup.

Betcha them kids will remember the trip too, and many meals to come!
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

That turned out great.
Congrats on the pickup and cleanup.
And Johnnie's beef is the best there is, almost worth the trip for that alone. I'm hungry all over again and I just finished dinner before reading this post.
