S&S Drip Griddle vs the Craycort Ballistic Griddle

Hi all,

Can anybody tell me if the S&S Drip Griddle is the same size as the Craycort Ballistic Griddle? Has anyone used one or both of them? Pros and cons?

Only reason I am asking is that I asked for the Craycort griddle for Christmas (we celebrate Christmas in June with my inlaws) before I knew the S&S one existed. I am open to getting a S&S one day, and when I do, I would like the griddle to be compatible. I am considering mentioning to my wife to switch my request to the S&S griddle.

Thanks!

I can't help you size wise since my craycort is the 18" version the drip griddle has handles and is more forgiving with liquids meaning your grill doesn't have to be perfectly level but by the same token it is not meant to be placed over coals.
The craycort has no handles is heavy and the flat side is open, this thing is a beast and can take whatever you dish out, it can be placed indirectly or directly over the coals. For those lacking in forearms and biceps avoid this.
The only difference between the two is if you want to char your entire steak then get the craycort because it will get hot enough over the coals without warping.

whoa thanks for the info! I liked the S&S griddle cuz it has walls all around it, but if it is flimsy and can't handle being over coals, then what's the purpose of marketing it as a griddle?? Sounds like the Craycort is the better buy despite not having a wall on the flat edge??

I'd say if looking for a drip pan, SnS. If looking for a griddle, go cast iron.

This one is nice.  It's large, 19" dia, with room for coals to vent. Can be used in its holder or sitting on your regular grate.

I appreciate the suggestions but what really interested me was the half-round shape of the ones I linked. I find myself wanting the ability to sauté lots of veggies alongside cooking meat directly on the grate. The half-round is desirable to me because I think it uses the space as efficiently as possible.

I've had no problem using both griddles direct or indirect that's a personal decision. The food is gonna get cooked either way.

I love my DnG, it does fit perfectly with various cook setups. I'm cautious with high heat cooks.  I did want to mention that it cleans up nicely. I have never used the craycort, but do like cast iron. Good luck

Edited to add:  I just realized the link was to a SS griddle. The SnS has handles and a contiguous lip which will serve better as drip pan.

Another option. Smaller but at least it would work on either 18" or 22.5" kettle.

I've used my drip & Griddle over high heat quite often.  It's how I make onion burgers.  The first time I tossed it on the fire, it contorted itself into a funky shape for a bit but laid back flat after a few minutes.
