Is 18” enough?

So I've been inspired by many mods on this forum, especially the pizza ones.  Instead of dropping money on a KP I think I want to cut up a lid.

I have seen a bunch of deals on 18" jumbo  joes, but around me I don't seem to see any full size beater kettles.

Do you think i can cut a hole big enough for a pizza peel on an 18" joe without making it too big?

I settled on this idea as well. I can't cut up my 22's because they are all MBH. So I figured I'll take my secret Santa JJ and make it into an 18" pizza kettle. I need to sit down and plan my route for this; or have a friend traveling through Europe send me a Weber Pizza kettle kit.

I can't speak to the joe, but it works great on the regular 18 I cut open.

You really don't need measurements, just needs to fit your current or future  replacement peel.

Here's dazzo's 18" pizza kettle at last weekends WKC picnic.  I don't know about the newer JJ but the older Outriders use the same size lid as a standard 18" kettle.

New JJ uses the same size and shape lid as other 18" grills.
They just don't have the hanging hook and you have to install the lid vent with the screws included.
