Thanks guys, some times it's the simple things.
Beautiful Grill rub congrats. How was you able to get the Break Free spray off of Grill I've got it on my thumb screw Texan.

I tried 0000, Dawn, and another cleaner or two with no luck. Then from the suggestions from some here, I tried heating it out. I got about a chimney full of lump lit and dumped it on the charcoal grate, put the lid on with all vents wide open, and watched. And sure enough the stains started to lighten. I'd guess they eventually lightened up by 75%, leaving "shadows" of what was there. But they were still distracting and noticeable to me. So I grabbed my weed-burner and started working on each area. I didn't have it roaring on full blast, more like half power. I took out the grates and slowly started working the blue flame back and forth from the inside where the stains were on the outside. I kept it moving and watched the shadows slowly start to fade even more. When they were pretty much gone I'd move to the next area. Knowing that heat from banking coals can cause porcelain pops I was careful to keep the flame moving and go slowly. Frankly to me on this kettle the stains were no worse than a popped porcelain mark so I was willing to take the chance. Fortunately I never had a pop, and the stains are probably 95% gone. I figure after a few cooks they will be history.
